Kathy O’Connell Clem, CPM®, MA
Vast Resources Coaching and Consulting

Kathy is a leader in the multi-family real estate industry and a Texas Real Estate broker with a Master of Arts in Organizational Management and Development and an Evidence Based Coaching Certification. Over her 35 year professional career, Kathy has managed operations of apartment communities in more than 30 markets throughout the United States with portfolios of up to 18,000 apartment homes for private owners, fee managers and Real Estate Investment Trusts. Her property management background includes experience in communities from new construction, high rise luxury buildings, mid-rise, garden style, income restricted, tax credit, section 8 voucher and HAP contract assets.

Leading a large number of employees in local and distant locations requires strength in team building, employee engagement, effective communication of goals and objectives and accountability. Kathy’s teams have consistently delivered and exceeded expected result. During her 11 year tenure with UDR, Kathy’s team members at all levels consistently surveyed with the highest level of engagement and satisfaction of any area or department in the company. That connection and commitment resulted in consistent, strong financial results in each market where she operated. Kathy’s message: “Do the right thing, the right way and you will get great results.”

As a Certified Birkman Consultant, Kathy is able to work with coaching and consulting clients to connect individuals and teams not only with their strengths and interests, but also identify how their performance and behaviors are impacted when their needs and expectations are not met. The Birkman assessment can leverage an understanding of individual differences in behavior and motivation to provide a foundation for higher performing people, teams and organizations.

Kathy’s passion for people and great results expands beyond the corporate setting. As a 34 year volunteer for the Houston Apartment Association, she has chaired many committees including the Community Outreach, Education and Ethics Committees and has been on the Board of Directors since 1992, serving as it’s President in 2003 and served two years on the Executive Committee of the Texas Apartment Association. She also is a long term volunteer at Covenant House Texas and is a board member of Replenish, a non-profit mission based organization that focuses on providing clean water and resources to children and their families in countries and schools that do not have access to clean water.
